Mystic Magickal cats

Merry Meet All,

Tonight I am blogging about our beloved cats. Last Samhain, on Samhain Eve, I spent it alone rather than attending the public ritual. My reasons are that I felt weird about going because of the local pagan politics in the community. However, the night was more magickal than I could ever have imagined.

I decorated my apartment, carved my pumpkin, lit candles and prepared for the ritual. I had adopted a cat and while I don’t follow an Egyptian tradition, nonetheless, I performed a Bast Protection of Cats ritual. I stood at my altar and began the ritual.

I meditated that I was approaching a beautiful temple, which was dedicated to Bast. In the meditation, I was a woman in a white dress but I did not look like myself. I approached the temple and entered. I saw clouds in the sky. The whole place looked exotic. On either side of me in the temple down a long hallway, fragrant with burning incenses, were rows of regal, beautiful cats. They watched me and seemed to peer into me and almost seemed to be expecting me. I reached the end of the hall. The cats now faced Bast and the cat. They remained watching where they were sitting. I bowed reverently to Bast and left an offering. I saw a beautiful woman standing next to a gorgeous cat. I assumed one of them was Bast. I implored Bast to protect my cat and all other cats of the world. I bowed again and left the temple. Somehow I knew Bast had accepted my plea and would protect all cats from harm. I left the temple and walked from the exotic vineyard and went back to reality. It was a powerful meditation. I will never forget it.

May Bast protect all your cats & other critters!
Blessings,
Lady Spiderwitch

Full Moon Magick

Merry Meet All,

I apologize for not posting in a while. I have been busy. I’m ba-ack now though!!

On February 18th, the Full Moon will shine in her luminous glory. I look forward to the full moon and what magick it brings. A lot is happening on the 18th. This full moon is called the Quickening Moon, the sun enters Pisces and the Celtic Tree Month of Ash begins. The full moon also lands on a Friday- which corresponds with Freya (Nordic) and Venus/ Aphrodite, (Greek/ Roman) goddesses of love. Ash is the “world tree” and combines the realms of matter and spirit.

Ostara is coming up next month. Although some of us may still be wading waist-deep in snow mounds, Spring is not far away. The harshness of winter will make us appreciate the sweetness of summer. I look forward to the coming of spring and seeing the first early crocus buds and snowdrops thumb their sunny faces at winter. It is a while yet before spring’s arrival. There are some things you can do to prepare for the return of the light half of the year.

Start some early gardening indoors. Take an egg carton and fill with soil, then add seeds. Peruse through seed catalogs. Plan how you will arrange your garden this year. Check your gardening tools to see if they are in good shape. Check your old seed packages and see which is still fresh and what could be pitched. Before you know it, spring will be here and you will be prepared.

Blessings,
Spiderwitch
