“Halifax: Five Fishermen restaurant”

Here’s a story from another blog. It’s from my home province of Nova Scotia and the capital of Halifax here are just some of the stories there. You can read the rest of them at,
Halifax: Five Fisherman Restaurant

The building goes back to the 1800’s and was home to a few schools and one mortuary. The mortuary helped lay to rest several victims of the great Titanic disaster as well as helped deal with the numerous victims from the Great Halifax Explosion that claimed 2000 lives.

Ghost stories are shared on the restaurants webpage and include the following eerie notes.
“Many of the staff of the Five Fishermen Restaurant are so used to odd occurrences that they wouldn’t even bat an eye when a glass flies off a shelf with no one near, or when cutlery on a table shifts then falls to the floor by itself. There…

In Memory of Rosemary Ellen Guiley

Merry meet all,

I was saddened to hear that Rosemary Ellen Guiley had passed. She was an amazing person with many books to her credit.  I own some of her books such as The Encyclopedia of Ghosts and Spirits and The Encyclopedia of Witches, Witchcraft and Wicca. I love them both and plan to read these splendid books cover to cover.

This is what the throngs of people who loved Rosemary Ellen Guiley had to say about her: “We are saddened to learn of the passing of our friend Rosemary Ellen Guiley (July 8, 1950-July 18, 2019) who was an American writer on topics related to spirituality, the occult, and the paranormal. She is also a radio show host, a certified hypnotist, a board director of the “National Museum of Mysteries and Research” and the “Foundation for Research into Extraterrestrial Encounters”, and a “Lifetime Achievement Award” winner from the Upper Peninsula Paranormal Research Society, Michigan. She has written more than 49 books, including ten encyclopedias, the newest of which called “Planet Bigfoot” she sent to us just a few weeks ago which is several sasquatch related stories that have been published with Fate Magazine. ”

Well I shall enjoy the legacy she left behind and enjoy reading her books proudly displayed on my bookshelf. I am not done purchasing half her books. I plan to get more books by her. I hope those who loved her and knew her well are comforted by the fact that she did leave a great legacy behind. She has inspired me to be sure.

In other news, I printed out the Horror Writers Association Poetry Showcase Volume 5. I hole punched the pages, stored them in a binder and decorated the binder a little. I shall enjoy reading the poems and hope to learn from the writers how they wrote their own poems in my binder.

Let’s all remember Rosemary Ellen Guiley in our thoughts.

Annabelle Comes Home & countdown to Samhain

Merry meet all,

Recently my boyfriend Vlad and I saw the suspenseful horror movie Annabelle Comes home. I thoroughly enjoyed it and was also truly scared by it. I want to watch it again. The  movie did not disappoint. This is the plot synopsis of the movie-“While babysitting the daughter of Ed and Lorraine Warren, a teenager and her friend unknowingly awaken an evil spirit trapped in a doll.
Determined to keep Annabelle from wreaking more havoc, demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren bring the possessed doll to the locked artifacts room in their home, placing her “safely” behind sacred glass and enlisting a priest’s holy blessing. But an unholy night of horror awaits as Annabelle awakens the evil spirits in the room, who all set their sights on a new target–the Warrens’ ten-year-old daughter, Judy, and her friends.
—Warner Bros. Pictures
Paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren keep a possessed doll locked up in an artifacts room in their house. When the doll awakens the room’s evil spirits, it soon becomes a night of terror for the couple’s young daughter and her friends.
Determined to prevent Annabelle from creating even more chaos, demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren bring the possessed doll into the artifact room that is locked in their home, isolated in a “safe” place, protected by a sacred glass and with the blessing of a priest. But what awaits them is a night of horror, as Annabelle awakens the evil spirits in the room, who turn their attention to a new target–the Warrens’ 10-year-old daughter, Judy, and her friends.

Taken from the IMDB website.

If you haven’t seen it yet, go. I got to go to a special free screening. In other news, it is 104 days till Samhain. That also tells me how many days my garden veggies have. Samhain is my favorite time of year. I love attending the public ritual and have scarcely missed a year. There is much to look forward to then.

I made two cat protection bottles. I also recorded this in my big spell book. I filled them with naturally shed claws and fur, catnip, salt, sage, rose petals, lavender, catnip, tiger’s eye and amethyst chips, and olive oil. I blended it all well. I glued the black cord to the cork top with hot sealing wax . I concentrated as I did all this. I visualized and empowered the small bottles with my protection intentions. As I did, I saw my cat Penny- one is for me and one is for Vlad and his kitties. As I did, his kitty Nervil came to me the strongest. Salt is for protection and there is more salt in his vial. It is meant to be sealed and used for protective magic. These are just the instructions. I also hot glued a cat to the cork top. Nervil came to me the strongest. He was right there, big eyes wondering, paw extended, wanting a hug.
And because I know Vlad, I also added 6 pieces of (the Devil’s number), Devil’s claw root resin. I do believe these protection jars shall serve him and me well.
I burned a beeswax candle and burned some incense. The night felt magickal. Could be Nervil was protecting Vlad or is in need of it.
I shall gift him the protection bottle the next time I see him.

July is a hard month for me. August is more in line with my energy than July. August is just before September and October. I love the autumn season the most. However, I still want my garden to bloom and flourish so at the same time I can wait. My zucchini plant is taking over my garden. I can’t wait to harvest zucchini. I do feel strange, loving October so much and yet wanting summer to last to give my garden a chance. I shall enjoy it while I can.

Today the sun is shining, my kitty’s napping and the birds are chirping. The birds chased a squirrel from the bird feeder. I sit here typing, pondering, worrying. I should be out with the flowers and bees and birds. I shall post more as it comes closer to October. !!!

Purple Rain

Merry meet all,

Recently I decided to paint my writing desk purple. This was a big decision for me. It was hard deciding if I should paint the desk and even harder to choose a color. I just finished painting the desk. I chose a deep deep purple berry color which I madly love. I am pleased as punch on how well it turned out.

I coated the whole desk and drawers in a coat of primer first. I put a drop cloth beneath the desk, gathered the paint brushes, paint stirring tool, paper towels, a kitchen knife, and a hammer. I recruited a friend of mine, Morrige, to help me paint the desk. The paint I used was melamine paint and the color was Blackberry Currant.

On a hot afternoon, we toiled on painting the desk and chatted. The painting of the desk took far less time than if I had been alone. I appreciated the help and repaid him with a cold rum and coke. I love the color purple. The desk was meant to be purple. I hated the color it was before.

The deep purple color I chose has an equally deep meaning. Purple represents power, sanctimony, spirituality, protection, psychic ability and healing. The special day is Thursday, its ruling planet is Jupiter and its astrological sign is Sagittarius- so it should go without saying I love purple!

Since I am extremely creative, I do believe I shall experience a boost in my creativity. I should call on the Goddesses or Gods that rule creativity and ask them to bless the newly transformed and now stunning desk.

I may try painting stencils onto the desk. My bedspread tapestry is purple, my curtains are purple and my bookcase is purple. The desk matches the rest of the décor and furniture in the bedroom.

Afterwards, I rinsed and dried the paintbrushes. I cleaned the paint stains and mopped the floor. I am waiting to put the drawers back in the desk. I love how it turned out. I do believe the purple desk is the new focal point of the room and shall boost more witchy writings!!
