Shadow People Visiting Times

Merry meet all,

I discussed the origins of shadow people in a previous post. Tonight I want to post about what they want from us, or seem to want from us. I get it. It is hard to believe such things exist- until you see them with your own eyes. I am not a fan of Paranormal Activity. I have finally seen the movies. The first one scared me more. I don’t have to watch the movies to get scared if I see a phantom, I do see them.

I have asked myself the same questions many times over. I suspect I will never have all the answers because it is simply impossible to know everything. There is much debate on the internet about whether they are supernatural phantoms or even aliens. Their true origins are as shadowy as their appearances. They appear as a flicker you catch out of the corner of your eye. You get a glimpse then they are gone. That is long enough for you to question whether you actually saw it or if your mind was playing tricks on you. Then you see it again, and then you again ask yourself if was real or your imagination. (Btw, please don’t be awake all night agonizing whether you did see it or not- you will have a sleepless night. It is what it is.)

They could be spying on us, or indeed out to give us the frights royale, or end up in our domains because they are lost. I suspect is that they want to scare us and are then intelligent enough to (which is scarier), and not lost. I have witnessed a shadow person with a friend. The being manifested in my house and then vanished. It was scary and weird. I was jolted with fear.

My theory is that they could be here to spy on us and thereby study us- they didn’t come all that way for nothing, right? and scare us. Mortals are limited in their years, and their abilities. I don’t know where they come from, but I am guessing they are here for a reason. It takes a lot of energy for phantoms and shadow people to move around and interact with people, so they have to feed off of energy to be able to get around. The more energy they feed off of, the more they can get around. People with low vibrational energies are still good sources of energy and yet are easier targets. People with higher vibrational energies are even better energy sources but are less likely to be targeted. People who know- like me, how to psychically defend themselves are the least targeted.

People with low vibrational energies such as abuse victims, alcoholics, or even serial killers or depressed people are often good  targets for shadow people to feed off of. They radiate the low vibrational energies, sending off the electronic signals without being aware. So it is like sending off a beacon on a dark stormy night to the shadow person. If people with the lower energies work on building up their vibrations, they can find themselves feeling stronger and healthier.

Conversely, people with genuine clairvoyant/ clairsentient gifts are targets too. They may have higher vibrational frequencies but they have a powerful/ strong light inside them that radiates naturally. It also shines like the beacon in the dark. Either way, the phantoms are often irresistibly drawn to them. The electronic signal is the beacon for energy to feed off of and the brighter the signal, the better.

If you read my previous posts, you can see why psychic shielding is so important and learn how it is done. So browse through the posts till you find them. Then you can shield yourself from them. They often target or attack when a person is vulnerable, asleep. The natural defenses are lowered. I have read online many accounts of people feeling drained of energy while they lay in their beds. I don’t ask that people leave their lights on all night as they sleep, just to be aware of this. The last thing you should do is become paranoid. That leads to more problems.

Never be ashamed to ask for help. You can obtain more assistance than you realize. Society is changing and becoming more accepting. I hope you enjoyed reading my post on shadow people.

Blessings, Spiderwitch

2nd Guest Post

Merry meet all,

Today we have another awesome guest post- this one tells us about the amazing number of Witches in North America!!

Number of Americans who practice witchcraft estimated to be as high as 1.5 MILLION

Witches now outnumber Presbyterians in America as number of Pagans soar to 1.5 MILLION – and millennials’ love of yoga and star signs is to blame
  • Pew Research Center survey finds there are 1.5 million Wicca or Pagans in U.S.
  • That means there are more Wicca or Pagans than there are Presbyterians
  • Wicca is a Pagan religion which emerged in Britain in the early 20th century

The number of self identified witches in America has soared in recent years to 1.5 million.

A survey by the Pew Research Center found that 0.4 per cent of Americans, between 1 and 1.5 million – identify as Wicca or Pagan, according toQuartz

That means there are now more witches in the US than there are Presbyterians who have around 1.4 million adherents.

Experts believe that the explosion in the witch population is due to millennial women’s embracing of new-age spirituality, mindfulness, meditation, and yoga.

Wicca, also called Witchcraft or The Craft, is a Pagan religion which emerged in Britain in the early 20th century. Based on ‘pre-Christian traditions,’ it was popularized by a retired British civil servant named Gerald Gardner throughout the 1950s and 1960s.

Wicca adherents praise nature and nature’s gods and goddesses.

They practice outside in parks, gardens or fields.

They endeavor to achieve self-awakening through dancing, singing, chanting, and with the use of herbs and incense.

Witches, Wiccans, and locals gathered at a Brooklyn metaphysical book store (above) on October 21 to perform a hex ritual on Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, President Donald Trump, and Senator Mitch McConnell

Despite some depictions, it has no connections with Satanism.

The Wiccan pentacle, a five-pointed star inside a circle, is often confused with symbols of Satanism.

In fact, the five points represent the elements of nature – earth, air, fire and water – and the spirit, within the eternal circle of life.

Before the Pew study, Trinity College in Connecticut conducted three large-scale studies on religion which found that the Wicca population grew significantly between 1990 and 2008.

In 1990, the Wicca in the U.S. numbered an estimated 8,000. By 2008, the number grew to 340,000.

The United Kingdom is also considered home to a sizable population of Wicca. A 2011 government census found that there are 12,000 Wiccans in England and Wales.

Wicca, also called Witchcraft or The Craft, is a Pagan religion which emerged in Britain in the early 20th century. Wicca adherents endeavor to achieve self-awakening through dancing, singing, chanting, and with the use of herbs and incense

This means they are more open to exploring other faiths and customs outside of the mainstream.

While in decades past the term ‘witch’ has misogynistic connotations and was used a pejorative, modern-day witches have adopted the lifestyle as an expression of their feminism.

Social media has been the forum through which witches and witch influencers can gain a mass following.

There’s The Hoodwitch, a witch influencer with 329,000 followers on Instagram.

The Hoodwitch practices ‘everyday magic for the modern mystic.’

Experts say that one does not need to be a Wicca or Pagan in order to be a witch, meaning that the actual number of those who practice witchcraft may be higher.

WITCHCRAFT AND THE ORIGINS OF HALLOWEEN

Salem’s internationally known and famous Witch Lorelei Stathopoloulos uses dragon powder on a candle in her shop on Halloween in Salem, Massachusetts

The word ‘witchcraft’ has three main connotations: the practice of magic or sorcery; the beliefs associated with the Western witch-hunts of the 14th to the 18th century; and varieties of the modern movement called Wicca.

Wicca was first publicized in 1954 by a British civil servant named Gerald Gardner who said the religion dated to an old witch cult that existed in secret for hundreds of years, originating in the pre-Christian Paganism of Europe.

Wicca is recognized as an official religion in the United States.

It is a primarily Western movement of nature worship based on pre-Christian traditions.

The Wiccan witch religion honors the ‘Elements of Nature’ – Earth, Air, Fire, Water, Spirit – and their associated directions – North, East, South, West, Center – in ‘sacred circles’ where rituals are held.

The Wiccan New Year of Samhain is considered a precursor to modern Halloween.

Today it coincides with Halloween on October 31.

Historically, it was a Celtic festival held on November 1 where the world of the gods was believed to be made visible to mankind.

Modern witches say it is a time of year when the ‘veil between the dead and the living is thin.’

The Beauty of Winter

NT3

Merry meet all,

The winter chill bites at us as we bustle about town. I walked on the nature trail this morning and I took some beautiful photos of the garden and snowy leaves. Magically speaking, Mercury has turned direct. I am relieved, to say the least. The Moon has entered Aries and Neptune has gone direct.

The Full Moon comes on the 17th. The Full Moon begins at 10 am and enters Gemini. Gemini is an air sign and represents the time for shortcuts, communication, games, and fun. Have a magical and fun esbat on the 17th! This full moon is known as the Hunter’s Moon and Snow Moon. Concentrate on the transition from fall to winter and how gracefully nature turns season. Think of how you can honor a transition occurring in your life and how you can accept the changes it brings. Decorate your altar and light white candles. Snow is pure and cold.

The Celtic Tree Month of Elder begins on November 25th. Before we know it, the Wheel of the Year will turn to Yule. I’ll post more about how to prepare for Yule.

Blessed Be,

Lady Spiderwitch )O(

Do you believe in Magic??? )O(

Merry Meet All,

Living with a guinea pig takes some beating. They are extremely clever critters and adorable. I love guinea pigs. I wrote my wish on a wish board that I wanted a pet. So it is with great pleasure to introduce Magic to you. Magic is my pet guinea pig!! I am happy that he’s mine. Magic is a young baby guinea pig but he will grow and be bossing me around soon. That is Magic in the photo above.

I can’t see a Witch without an animal familiar. Animal familiars have traditionally aided witches in their spells. I am sure Magic will do that too. He is skittish now but hopefully it won’t take long before he will be helping me in spells, too. I knew he was perfect when I saw him in the pet store. His fur is a glossy thick black. Like the black feline animal familiars.

I bought his cage before I brought Magic home. He has a water bottle, food bowl, salt lick and food. I will be spoiling him with treats, a hidey hole, and other treats soon, too.

I believe that we can have a psychic connection with our pets. I think that is part of them being animal familiars. If you are in a store, and you sense them telling you to select a specific gemstone or pendulum when your pet is at home, that is when you have achieved a psychic connection with your pet. There are many benefits to having a psychic connection with your pet. If they are in danger, then you will sense it when you are away from home and be able to handle the situation better if you had none at all.

Guinea pigs are hard to tame early on but soon learn to trust you. Guinea pigs come from Peru and were bred by the Incas. They eat all of your vegetables, timothy hay, pellets, and must be supplemented with Vitamin C. Guinea pigs’ bodies can’t produce Vitamin C. They need Vitamin C or they will get sick. Guinea pigs love to eat lettuce and grass. They also win you over with their cute antics such as wheeking and popcorning in the air.

Guinea pigs make great pets and live for five to seven years. I know Magic will bless me with years of magical cute antics. I performed a pet blessing ritual last night. He is blessed by the Goddess.

Blessings,
Lady Spiderwitch )O(

Ostara Gardens

Merry Meet All,

This post is about two different topics. One, I want to encourage all of that if you are starting seedlings to grow in your garden, to buy a new bag of seedling soil. I say this because I started with regular dried out potting soil and that won’t help your plants to grow. I tossed out the soil and recycled the egg carton. Now I have a new bag of proper soil for seeds, a tray, and I have turned it into a mini-greenhouse. The soil you choose to use does make a difference on whether you grow anything. The jiffy pots can be purchased at a thrift or dollar store and are so easy to use because you plant them in the soil with the seedling. You want healthy tomatoes or lavender, right? It will hopefully not be expensive but make a huge difference in helping your seedlings to grow.

Now is the perfect time to plan a magical garden. A truly, bewitching and enticing garden that is pleasing to the eye, day and night. I always let my perennials claim their spots before moving in new plants. Some suggestions for a lunar garden are

dusty millers
silver lamb ears
moonflower
silver thyme
mugwort.

Flowers with lunar connections are

Camphor
Eucalyptus
Gardenia
Jasmine
Moonwort
Sandalwood
Willow
Sleepwort

I planted silver lambs ears beneath my Echinacea. It was a beautiful and bewitching sight. You can always arrange plants to enhance other plants. Once you have grown your Moon Garden plants, dry them to use in talismans and charms, or to dress a Moon candle or as part of a purification bath. Use them in herbal blends to enhance your dreams, intuition, and wisdom.

I hope this encourages you to design and dream about your own gardens. May the energy of the Goddess be with you.

Blessed Be,
Lady Spiderwitch

Winter Enchantments

Merry Meet All,

Today the rain is melting away the huge snowbanks. I fought my way over the snowbanks yesterday, many of them bigger than I am. The Wheel of the Year turns to Ostara next month. Ostara is the second spring Sabbat and the spring equinox.

Valentine’s Day warms hearts on Thursday. Mercury Retrograde occurs on February 23 and ends on March 17. The Full moon lands on February 25.

Someone suggested on Facebook that we all have an UnValentine’s Day. Imagine that if everyone withheld buying chocolates and roses. The corporations that glut over the money people spend on V-Day, Halloween, and Christmas would be flabbergasted. They are raking in the millions because people buy into the consumerism. What if you didn’t? What if you found another way to say I love you to that special someone? I think that Valentine’s Day should be every day of the year. And for you all single people out there, take heart and tell your pet or your plant that you love them. Make a devotional offering to your God and Goddesses of your tradition.

February may seem like a cold dismal month. But it can still be a magickal month. Take this time to improve your Book of Shadows and clear your tools of stale chi. Perhaps your altar would fare better if it faced north or west. After months of enduring a wooden board practically sticking in my back, I switched the direction my altar is facing and finally have a lot more space. Now my altar faces east, the Air element. It corresponds with new beginnings, intellectual matters, wisdom, air and the power of the mind.

I hope you find ways to make this a spellbinding month

Blessed Be
Lady Spiderwitch

The Magic of Samhain

Merry Meet All,

Can you feel the chill and energy in the air? Do you hear it in the crinkle of the leaves and the whispers on the wind? Do you smell it in the air and the scent of pumpkins baking in your ovens? Samhain is only a few days away. I hope you’re all ready.

I will be out of town this weekend. I will be back next week, so I won’t be able to post on my blog. But I won’t forget about my blog while I frolic with spirits, faeries, the Green Man, and the other wondrous mysterious creatures of the Elfwood at Twa Corbies Hollow. More about that later.

Samhain is next week and if you have all been following my blog, you should be all ready. I have a few last minute details I have to take care of. I plan to do that today. The Full Moon will be shining in the ghostly skies soon. There is much to look forward to.

Wishing you all a happy, safe, memorable, magical Spooky Samhain!!
Blessings,

Full Moon News

Merry Meet All,

Tonight is Full Moon. I am excited and am always excited when this time comes. It is known as Storm Moon. Ostara arrives on March 20th, the vernal spring equinox. A lot to look forward to.

Recently I bought a book called Witchcraft on a Shoestring by Deborah Blake. Her book is truly awesome. I encourage everyone to grab a copy of this book who aims to practice the Craft and not cave into overspending. That is easy to do as we all know. The book is divided into crafts and recipes. She has a witty style and I enjoyed reading the book immensely.

I am a die hard DIY. I was familiar with many of the craft suggestions in the book. I realized she may have been writing for a newbie audience. People who are new to the Craft and looking for suggestions on how to save money. I have already made my own goddess figures from clay, made my own pentacles, wicker pentacles, pendulums, tumbled my own stones, sewn my own cloaks, robes and gowns and many many other crafts. Despite my own knowledge and previous experience with witchy garb and tools, I still found the book a joy to read. Some of the recipes were delicious. It never hurts to learn a new recipe. So her book must be geared toward a newbie audience.

All in all, a great book which I give ten broomsticks to!!
Read it and better yet, if you want to save money, borrow from the library. Blessings to all on this Storm Moon!!
Blessed Be,
Lady Spiderwitch

Books

Merry Meet All,

I am a bookcase thief. I am really. In the last few months, I have convinced my mother to give up two bookcases that I am sure she needed too to give to me to be a holding cell for all my books. There are two built in bookcases that are crammed with books with four shelves each. Then I have a third wooden bookcase in my bedroom with three shelves, filled with books.

I am addicted to the written word. I guess I have made that obvious. I collect books for help with my writing, research or to just enjoy and read. I enjoy the books I read for research too. I have books from when I was younger though most books are recent.

I have a certain order to how I organize the books on my shelves. To look at it all, you would think you had walked into a bookstore or library. On the highest top shelf of my bookcase, are the classic literature books, followed by some horror novels, then poetry and writers manuals. The bottom shelf holds the miscellaneous books. The second bookcase contains my books on Wicca and witchcraft and pagan magazines. Yes I am organized about my books. It helps as there are so many. Books are wonderful and I also love books more than Kindle or Kobo or whatever. I prefer to hold a real book in my hand, smell the print, feel the texture of the page. I hope bookstores never become a thing of the past.

Blessed Be,
Lady Spiderwitch

Oral and Written Tradition of Modern Bards

Merry Meet All,

I thought I would take a moment to comment and acknowledge the wonderful literary wizards in our community. Whether it’s the awesome tireless and inspiring Writers Federation of Nova Scotia that always keep me on my writer’s toes, ha ha, Circle Magazine, the Open Heart Forgery, the Blowhard event, the people who love to read poetry -and are brave enough to write and share their writing at the Open Heart Forgery, or at the bookstores that sell books. This lovely vibrant community all share a common goal: to enjoy and appreciate poetry or fiction and keep an oral tradition alive that dates back centuries. Long way back when, bards were the entertainers. They played instruments and memorized whole poems that were probably longer than we could manage today. Today we still recite poetry and write songs, honoring a time-worn tradition.

Creating words for songs and poetry or a short story is an act of magic. Not every writer waits for inspiration but when it strikes, it is magic. The pen, or quill, flows lucidly and the words pour onto the page like honey. Most of the time my muse is sleeping off a drunk somewhere in an alley but she occasionally sobers up for a visit to me. I have attended a number of events lately within the last few months and have seen the magic come alive. I love those moments when I see people who are brave enough to share their talent and energy and writing. I like hearing the different poems or stories. Sometimes they remind me that I should not take life so seriously. Sometimes the stories are touching. There is a lot of talent in this province. I also admire the energy and dedication by those who organize the events every month or every week. And no matter the weather or time of year, the diehards arrive to share their energy. I know a snowstorm may not keep me away.

Even at a table at a cafe, when people are discussing literary pursuits and sipping decadent lattes, the magic presides. I was at the farmers market last week where I remember hearing the conversations about books that I sense I must read or die. I remember when there were more poetry readings in Halifax and there were more cafes such as Cafe Ole, Cafe Mokka, Great Gatsby’s where writing was shared. Downtown Halifax has become more corporate but you can’t squelch the voices of the bards. They will just go underground- find a way.

Open Heart Forgery is one of those voices rising from the ashes of the phoenix. The poetry scene is alive with magic again thanks to the tireless dedication of those involved. I can’t wait to see the anthology that my poems and others will be appearing in. I am excited about it. It is an example of the energy and dedication the bards way back when may have experienced. I wish Open Heart Forgery much future success and hope it continues in success. I wish the same for all the other organizers, hosts, and writers out there.

As a side note, to show how serious I am about bards and tradition, I have beautifully bound my own Book of Shadows. This binds in your own power and energy and collects power over time. See the photo above.

Carpe diem!
Blessed Be
Merry Part
Lady Spiderwitch
