Merry Meet All,
I had the most amazing weekend at Twa Corbies’ Hollow this Samhain. It was so amazing I count it as the ultimate Samhain celebration that I have had in a long time.
I left for New Glasgow on Saturday and arrived late in the afternoon. My Mother had promised to cat sit while I was away. Cliff was there to pick me up. I enjoyed the lovely sight of the autumn trees as we drove. I got settled in and met his wonderful family. Though I was tired, I was excited. We had tea and got to know each other. I also met their pet dog Will o’ wisp, and Eldritch and Luthien the two cats.
The next morning, I was up early and helped to feed the goats and horses in the barn. They have a farm with horses, goats, and turkeys. It is a lot of work but it is that good kind of work. I have family from Pleasant Bay and am familiar with the lifestyle of the country which is different than life in the city. It was the first time that I had cajun food which I enjoyed. I helped to prepare food and picked apples and hauled wood. We gathered around a bonfire. I loved the bonfire. The spirits watched us warily and we told stories all night long. It was the first time I had seen blue flames. I found myself in a trance watching the flickering flames with my cloak wrapped around me.
A storm came which made travel difficult for me. I stayed an extra night there. I was enjoying myself. They played a game I am not familiar with. We watched horror movies since we were all forced indoors. The power went out and that was quite an adventure. We all had to go to sleep that night anyway. The horror movies had had quite an effect on me. I couldn’t sleep till I had some form of comfort- teddy bears, around me. I fell asleep listening to the howling wind and felt the bed shake from the wind.
I love horses. Love horses. I finally had the chance to fulfill a dream of mine. I went horseback riding in the corral. I rode Acorn who is a beautiful good natured Belgian horse. I love Acorn. I found it difficult to manage her. It has been years since I have been riding horses. I used to go on trail rides in Fort Edmonton Park. I feel natural with horses.
A farm is a huge responsibility. They all participate in the chores. They have a wonderful farm. I ate wonderful food, cuddled their dog and cats, hung out with the horses and goats, watched movies, drank lots of herbal teas, and before long it was time to leave the magickal world of Twa Corbies and return to Halifax. I almost cried and as the bus pulled me away, I took the good memories of my trip with me. I also visited The White Lotus and picked up some Faerie Tea.
I brought brownies and cider which I shared with them. I gifted them with a homemade Echinacea tincture for letting me stay. I emailed them a recipe for how to make salves and tinctures.
At home that night, I had some cider, faerie tea and carved my pumpkin. I hope to visit there again.
